Looks Like Generic Ancestor Photo

This is Archibald Smith Cameron, born Dec. 25, 1843, in McMinn County, Tennessee. He died Apr. 28, 1932, and is buried in Liberty Hill Cemetery in Mount Pleasant. This photo was posted on the cemetery listings at Find A Grave for Liberty Hill. This is his wife, Mary Jane Riddle Cameron, also buried at Liberty Hill (1850 - 1939). Archibald served in Co A 1st Tennessee Cavalry C.S.A. and there is a rebel flag on the picture of the gravestone online.
Their children:
Nancy Catherine Cameron Ryan (1869 - 1957)
James Thomas Cameron (1872 - 1952)
Archie Andrew Cameron (1874 - 1952)
** Mary Annie Cameron Dement (1876 - 1945) my great-grandmother - I remember sitting on her bed there in Mt. Pleasant when I was a toddler. I guess she was dying and they took me in to see her. For some reason I was always the little pet grandchild.
Martha Ellen Cameron Cabaniss (1881 - 1955)
John Willard Cameron (1887 - 1974) This is Uncle Willard that Gary is named after
Julia Cameron (1894 - 1920) - Army nurse died in WW I.
And that is your genealogy lesson for today.

Dissney on Ice - The Fowkes Tradition Continues

All the years that Mandie, Melinda and Missy were growing up, I worked at a real newspaper and we traded ad space for tickets to the circus, Disney on Ice and some other events. Often we even got enough to take some of the grandkids. So, we got in free and rarely missed an event. I guess they sort of took that for granted and didn't realize that other kids did not get that luxury. So, now the tradition continues - no free tickets - but thanks to the XTO people, the gas royalties almost pay for the tickets. Oh what fun! Carter had his first Reese's Pieces and Abby and Anna danced to their hearts content since we had seats with no one behind us. Tommy enjoyed the $5 popcorn and Ben got to bring his friend, Noah and his sister, Caitlin. They had never been to such a show. We went in on the train - another treat for some. Until next year...

Alfred Hitchcock Where Are You?

There were 12 buzzards in this tree until I scared them and two flew away.

Hanging the Mayors

My latest project has been to get pictures of the mayors of Forest Hill, all 21 past and present. Some of the pictures already existed but I had to work on this to get them all. Then, I had to get the city to pick the frames (I chose 3 and had them pick their favorite) and have everything matted and framed with new brass plates. It is finished and they look good. I am now writing a brief history about the ones I can get info on and a brief history on the original hangings. Of course, there are some mayors we would really like to hang, but I guess that won't happen.

Julianne and Tenok get hitched

The little girls made a great showing at the wedding reception. Notice that Abby and Mary could pass for twins with their little Swedish girl hairdos.
Above:
What a cute couple!
Julie and Jared were delightful on the dance floor.

Cecily is here!

She arrived at 1:22 p.m., 7 lbs. 15 1/2 oz., 21 inches long. She has blonde eyelashes and eyebrows and light hair. She was very alert right after she was born, but has since decided she doesn't like the light. Mom & Dad are doing great! Pictures are on facebook--couldn't get them to load here.

Veteran’s Day in Forest Hill

Three pictures are worth a 1,000 words. Notice the “Kilt” in the first picture. I think he is a Marine veteran and his name is Bill. Sorry, I don’t know...the rest of the story but his appearance livened up the Veteran’s Day Breakfast!

Funs a'Poppin

The Young Adults had a service project at the Fowkes Farm on June 28 and then set off a barrage of fireworks. These are the leftovers around the corner after many fireworks sessions. The family came on Sunday and enjoyed a fireworks show set off by John, James and Brian and we all have the mosquito bites to prove it. Missy will post the fireworks pictures soon...we hope!

Toy room transformation

Chrystal is nesting at our house. Here is the almost finished result of the toy room transformation (formerly Gideon's downstairs bedroom). The rest of the sorting will have to wait until Jared can go through his GI Joe collection. I think it's beautiful! We have ordered a One Fish Two Fish curtain from pottery barn to complete the Dr. Seuss theme. The trees are from the Lorax. Thanks to Chrystal, Gideon, Julianne & Carrie for doing the painting!
