Mom's surgery
Mom had some minor surgery today to clear up a fungus in her sinus cavities (maxillary sinus, above your top teeth). Dr. Shay came in after surgery to report it was very successful, then proceeded to describe it in very vivid detail. Basically, she had a "ball" of green fungus in each sinus (I saw pretty pictures!) that is now gone. The doctor also said her sinus drainage openings were abnormally small and nonfunctional and are now enlarged to normal size. In theory, with the fungus gone her 20-year cough should clear up pretty quickly. She's grounded from driving for 48 hours--we'll see if she obeys that! Otherwise, all is well and she should expect a quick recovery.

Okay, the post says Chrystal, but it was actually me that wrote it.
I think this is the best news I've heard in like - FOREVER! I'm excited about it...I can't imagine how excited mom is!
It is after midnight and I am doing really well. Still have drainage from the surgery but not as bad as the green goo. I feel good and have folded clothers, clippted coupons, cleaned out my purse and other non-exerting activities tonight and plan to take it easy tomorrow. By the way, I have not needed the pain pills.
Of course we're all SO glad you're doing okay and hope that this clears up that awful cough of yours! I'm just glad you have a good doctor now who knows what she's doing and doesn't pray over you like that other lady did! So weird... If you need anything just let us know!
